Database Performance & Management

We tune slow databases, make them highly available, and manage them day to day — on your own servers or on cloud services such as Amazon RDS, Azure SQL and Google Cloud SQL.

What’s included

Databases that stay fast, available and recoverable.

  • Performance tuning

Query analysis, indexing and configuration changes, measured against your real workload.

  • High availability and replication

Replicas and automatic failover, so one failed server does not take your application down.

  • Backups and point-in-time recovery

Automated backups with retention policies — and restores rehearsed on a schedule.

  • Migrations and upgrades

Version upgrades and moves to or between cloud database services, planned for minimal downtime.

  • Monitoring and capacity planning

Visibility into slow queries, connections and growth, so problems are fixed before users notice.

  • Access and data security

Least-privilege roles, encryption in transit and at rest, and audit logging.

How we deliver

A clear path from first look to running well.

  1. 01

    Health check

We measure performance, reliability and risk across your databases and rank what to fix first.

  2. 02

    Stabilise

Critical risks first: backups verified, replication in place, the worst queries fixed.

  3. 03

    Optimise

Deeper tuning, schema and index improvements, and right-sized instances.

  4. 04

    Manage

Ongoing monitoring, maintenance windows, upgrades and regular health reports.

Deliverables

What you walk away with.

Everything we build is documented and handed over in your own accounts and repositories.

  • Database health report with prioritised findings
  • Documented configuration and index changes
  • High-availability and failover design
  • Backup policy with restore test records
  • Monitoring dashboards and alerts
  • Upgrade and migration runbooks

FAQ

Common questions.

Something else on your mind? Talk to an engineer.

Which databases do you work with?

PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB and Redis — both self-managed and on managed cloud services.

Can you help without access to our production data?

Often, yes. Much of the analysis uses performance statistics and query plans rather than the data itself. Any access we need is agreed and scoped with you first.

Should we move to a managed cloud database?

Sometimes. It removes a lot of operational work, but changes cost and control. We recommend based on your workload, not a default answer.

What does a health check involve?

We review configuration, slow queries, replication, backups and resource usage, then deliver a written report that ranks each issue by risk and impact.
